FUNDING OPPORTUNITY: Youth Empowerment Training (YET)
DESCRIPTION: YET trains youth and young adults to achieve hopeful, joyful, peaceful and righteous living; while empowering them to take the lead in becoming agents of positive influence at home, school, work or play. Program leaders assist in developing insights to problem solving principles through of the Holy Bible.
BENEFIT: Training youth and young adults in the following areas will contribute to building responsible, productive generations, preparing them for a successful future with Godly principals. Areas of Training and Practical Skills sets are:
Identity, Purpose, Realizing Dreams/Casting Inner Vision, Integrity/ Character,
Leadership, Success, Building Your Career, Budgeting, Stress Management,
Nutrition/Exercise, Creating a Meaningful Life and Making a Lasting Impact on Your Community
ANNUAL COST: $15,000
RECOGNITION: Available upon request.
YOUR GIFTS AT WORK: House of Protection’s cost of fundraising is 4 cents on the dollar. The national average is 20 cents. This means 96% of your gifts goes directly to projects and programs. Help provide a $300 scholarship for one youth or young adult to be empowered to take the lead as an agent of positive influence at home, school or play. Their instructional materials and lunch are included.
House of Protection’s YET Program, trains youth and young adults to achieve hopeful, joyful, peaceful and righteous living; while empowering them to take the lead in becoming agents of positive influence at home, school or play. Program leaders assist in developing insights and problem solving through principles of the Word of God (Holy Bible).
Here is an outline of what they will be learning and applying:
Lesson One: Identity
Participants will learn to:
- Use a personality tool as a means to better understand themselves and others;
- Evaluate their personality, appearance and total presentation and become aware of how others perceive them;
Lesson Two: Purpose
Participants will learn:
- God prepared you with a purpose.
- You have potential, what are your passions?
- To identify your talents, giftings & strengths.
- To identify the problem you want to solve, and the need you want to meet in society & your generation.
Lesson Three: Realizing Dreams/Casting Inner Vision
Participants will learn to:
- Develop personal goals and objectives.
- Develop a mission and vision for life.
- Create and implement and action plan.
Lesson Four: Integrity & Character
Participants will learn to:
- Evaluate their personality, appearance and total presentation and become aware of how others perceive them.
- Utilize an awareness of strengths and weaknesses
- Manage Peer Pressure.
Lesson Five: Leadership
Participants will:
- Define Leadership.
- Identify traits of a leader.
- Model Christ as an example of servant leadership.
- Introduce Assignment for Community Project
Lesson Six: Success
Participants will:
- Identify how their time is being spent.
- Create a time management plan.
- Learn five keys to effective time management.
- Develop and implement an action plan.
- Learn successful problem resolution.
Lesson Seven: Building Your Career
Participants will:
- Speak with a Career Counselor
- Hear from and interact with 5-8 speakers in various careers.
Lesson Eight: Budgeting
Participants will learn:
- To begin saving and investing now.
- Basic math, credit, debts and %
- How credit card debts and interest rates work.
- To become Philanthropists.
Lesson Nine: Stress Management
Participants will:
- Develop an awareness of the stressors in their life: it symptoms, source and ways to reduce it.
- Analyze complex, unstructured problems.
- Accurately prioritize problems/concerns using a pre-defined set of criteria.
- Develop pro-active strategies to ensure successful problem resolution.
Lesson Ten: Nutrition/Exercise
Participants will:
- Have a brief consultation with a nutritionist and a personal trainer.
- Learn the importance of taking care of their body, mind and emotions.
Lesson Eleven: Creating a Meaningful Life
Participants will:
- Learn not to lose hope in the midst of difficult times.
- Understand the differences between joy and happiness, and to always choose joy.
- Learn how to live a peaceable life.
- Learn to live a life that is pleasing to God and to become an agent of positive influence.
Lesson Twelve: Making a Lasting Impact on Your Community
Participants will:
- Engage in Class Community Outreach Project.
